HOW IT ALL STARTED
The Word Christian Mission is in its 31st year. What a journey these last 31 years have been.
Pastor Rene and Sister Nancy are humbling servants of God who migrated to Sydney Australia from the Philippines with their young children Rachel and Leah on the 7th of April 1991. They stayed in Dee Why and bought a place in Bligh Park a year later. A vision was given by God to Pastor Rene, " I command you to go" as continuing fulfillment of the promises of God back in 1982. God said “ I will bless you like the waves of the ocean “
The year was 1993 in the month of June, Bligh Park Christian Fellowship was born. Consisted of 6 families attending including Brother Ray and Sister Sally, Nanay Adela and Gelsana family. Service was every Sunday in the hall of Bligh Park Public School. Minchinbury Christian Fellowship supported the church during this time.
After 5 years in 1998, the church moved to Rooty Hill Public School and the church name was changed to The Word Christian Ministry. Church service was done on Saturday nights, and Sunday morning service was done on top of the Filipino shop near the St Marys station. The number of church members increased with many families with young children. The kids, youth and young adults were involved in every aspect of the church activities. Especially in the music ministry. I know so many of the kids then will remember Tito Boyet. He taught the young kids with their gifts and talents on the instruments.
Then in May 2003, the Lord graciously provided us with the building 13 Forthorn Place St Marys and He blessed us with this building. It was just a carpet showroom, but the Lord had other ideas for the building. There were other religious organisations who tried to buy other properties along this side of the road. But after a few years, the council changed the zoning of the area, and no one was allowed to buy a property alongside this road for a church building. Many tried but were told no and had to sell their property. After 10 years - in 2013 we paid off the church. The church no longer owes anything to the bank. Thank you, Lord. This church had several renovations and we added a mezzanine in March 2017, which has been a great addition to the building.
The church's name was changed to the Word Christian Mission in 2013. In Feb 2019 the church logo was re-design based on an old logo Pastor Rene had. The Church sign was updated with the new Logo. As you can see outside the church building.
In 2021 Pastor Rene extended the church's capability to world mission and called it WIN- Word International Network.
Just recently, the church had another renovation, you are a witness to this amazing transformation.
The church had its moments of ups and downs. People came and people went. We have had the privilege of having Pastor Ken Legg from Gold Coast who is the author of “ The Power of Grace”. And the privilege of Peter Kairuz and his wife Christine from 700 Club Asia to do a seminar on 'Marriage Ablaze 'in our church. We have had other Christian denominations come and use this building. To this day, our church continues to lend the building for its service. The church has serviced many occasions - dedications, funerals, weddings and wedding anniversaries.
But one thing hasn’t changed. It is the Lord God. He has never changed. He created this church from the very beginning. It doesn’t matter if it’s Pastor Rene who is the Senior Pastor or someone else. God remains the same and He is the one running this church. We are all a vessel that God can use if we chose to.
As Jesus said to Peter 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. Matthew 16:18
This church is built by God on His people that He has chosen to continue with this journey. And Satan cannot do anything about it. He can try, but the foundation is strong in this church. Happy Anniversary. God bless the Word Christian Mission and many more years to come.
